On November 29, BLACKPINK Rosé appeared on KBS2’s “The Seasons – Lee Young-ji’s Rainbow”, marking her first appearance on the network in 9 years. She performed a live duet of “APT.” with MC Lee Young-ji, receiving a warm response from the audience. Rosé expressed her excitement, “I’m happy to finally be on KBS.”

“APT.” was inspired by a Korean drinking game and came to life through Rosé’s collaboration with Bruno Mars. Rosé revealed, “I suggested three songs to Bruno Mars, and ‘APT.’ was one that everyone opposed, but I secretly added it because I thought it would be fun.” Bruno Mars showed interest and asked, “What does ‘APT.’ mean?” After hearing that it was based on a drinking game, he agreed, “It sounds fun.”

Rosé described Bruno Mars as having a “tsundere-like” personality and even sang his song “Too Good to Say Goodbye.” She laughed and said, “When I said I was going to sing this song, Bruno said it was hard. Bruno, I did it,” playfully teasing him.

During the broadcast, Rosé also spoke about her upcoming full album “rosie”. She explained, “The album includes stories from my twenties that aren’t necessarily pretty. I hope it provides comfort and empathy.”

Rosé also shared the inspiration behind her pre-release track “APT.” and the album track “number one girl.” She said, “After the BLACKPINK tour, I went through a difficult time dealing with hate comments. ‘number one girl’ is a song that honestly reflects that experience,” adding, “Working on this song made me feel much lighter.”

Additionally, Rosé sang “Because I Love You” by the late Yoo Jae-ha, expressing her gratitude and love for her parents. She shared, “As I sang, thinking about my parents’ love, the lyrics resonated more deeply.” In a video letter to her younger self, she encouraged herself, “You’ll gradually let go. You’re doing great already.”

Rosé spent nights reading hateful comments, which caused her personal suffering. That is one of the reasons that motivated her to write the songs in her new album to express her emotions.

The heartfelt stories and live performances from Rosé can be rewatched in episode 10 of “The Seasons – Lee Young-ji’s Rainbow”, airing on KBS JOY on November 30 at 10:20 PM (KST).
